FAQs

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR A FACELIFT?

Good facelift candidates are typically experiencing visible signs of facial ageing — including sagging skin, loss of jawline definition, deepening folds and jowling. Most patients are between 40 and 70, though candidacy depends on anatomy and health rather than age alone. The best way to find out is to book a consultation, where Dr Jamshidi will assess your specific concerns and advise honestly on whether surgery is the right option for you.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A FACELIFT AND A PONYTAIL FACELIFT?

A traditional facelift lifts and repositions the deeper facial tissues and skin to restore a youthful facial contour. The Ponytail Facelift is a more technically advanced variation that uses differently positioned incisions to create a lifted, elevated result with minimal visible scarring. Dr Jamshidi is the first surgeon to offer the Ponytail Facelift in the UK and will advise which technique is most appropriate for you during your consultation.

WHAT IS A SCARLESS FACELIFT?

The scarless facelift uses carefully concealed incisions to lift facial tissue with minimal visible evidence of surgery. It is particularly suited to patients in the earlier stages of facial ageing who want natural rejuvenation with a faster recovery.

HOW LONG DOES A FACELIFT LAST?

Facelift results typically last between 7 and 10 years, though this varies depending on individual factors including skin quality, lifestyle and the natural ageing process. A facelift does not stop the ageing process, it resets the clock.

WHAT IS THE RECOVERY TIME AFTER A FACELIFT?

Most patients feel comfortable returning to social activities within 2 to 3 weeks. Swelling and bruising gradually subside over 4 to 6 weeks, and final results become fully visible after 3 months.

Dr Jamshidi will provide detailed recovery guidance tailored to your specific procedure.

WILL MY FACELIFT MAKE ME LOOK UNNATURAL?

Not in Dr Jamshidi’s hands. Her surgical philosophy is built on one principle: results that look like you, only rested. She uses precise technique and a deep understanding of facial anatomy to ensure outcomes that are natural and balanced - never overdone.

WHAT IS THE APPROPRIATE AGE FOR A FACELIFT?

There is no fixed age for a facelift. Candidacy depends on your anatomy, skin quality and the concerns you want to address, not your age. Patients in their late 30s may benefit from earlier intervention, while others choose to wait until their 50s or 60s. Dr Jamshidi will advise honestly based on your individual anatomy.

WHAT CAN RHINOPLASTY CHANGE ABOUT MY NOSE?

Rhinoplasty can address the bridge, tip, width, symmetry and overall proportion of the nose. It can also improve breathing function where structural issues are present. Dr Jamshidi approaches every rhinoplasty with the goal of creating a result that is in natural harmony with your facial features.

HOW LONG IS THE RECOVERY AFTER RHINOPLASTY?

A splint is worn for approximately one week. Most patients feel comfortable in social settings within 2 weeks, though residual swelling, particularly at the tip, can take up to 12 months to fully resolve. Final results are assessed at one year.

WHAT IS A NECKLIFT AND DO I NEED ONE?

A necklift targets fullness beneath the chin (double chin), loose skin and muscle banding along the neck. It is one of the earliest areas to show ageing and is frequently combined with a facelift for a complete result. Whether you need one depends on your anatomy - Dr Jamshidi will assess this during your consultation.

WHAT IS A LIP LIFT AND HOW IS IT DIFFERENT TO LIP FILLER?

A lip lift is a surgical procedure that shortens the distance between the nose and the upper lip, creating a fuller, more defined lip shape permanently. Lip filler adds volume but cannot change the position or length of the lip. For patients with an elongated philtrum or a lip that has thinned with age, a lip lift often achieves what filler cannot. Dr Jamshidi will advise which approach is right for you.

WHAT IS A BLEPHAROPLASTY AND WHO IS IT SUITABLE FOR?

Blepharoplasty is eyelid surgery - removing excess skin and puffiness from the upper or lower eyelids to restore a more alert, rested appearance. It is suitable for anyone experiencing heaviness, hooding or puffiness around the eyes that makes them look tired. it can be performed alone or combined with a facelift.

CAN PROCEDURES BE COMBINED?

Yes, many patients choose to combine procedures for a more complete result - for example, a facelift with a necklift, or blepharoplasty with a facelift. Combining procedures means one anaesthetic and one recovery period. Dr Jamshidi will advise on the safest and most effective combination for your goals.

WHAT ARE THE RISKS OF FACIAL SURGERY?

All surgical procedures carry risks, which Dr Jamshidi will discuss with you in full during your consultation. She will only recommend surgery when she believes the benefits clearly outweigh the risks for your specific situation. Patient safety is the foundation of every decision making.
